The Children's House at Johns Hopkins provides a warm home-away-from-home for children and families while undergoing medical treatmentat the Johns Hopkins Children's Center.

The Johns Hopkins Home Hospice

Johns Hopkins Home Hospice is a home-based hospice which serves terminally ill patients of all ages in the Central MD area. Volunteers are an integral part of the hospice team, providing three types of service.Direct service volunteers provide companionship and respite care for patients and families. Bereavement care volunteers provide follow-up care to families after a patient has died. Administrative volunteers provide clerical, computer,and filing support or work on other special projects (fundraising, community education, etc.)

Johns Hopkins Oncology Center

The Johns Hopkins Oncology Center is a comprehensive cancer center where state-of-the-art research is combined with excellent patient care. The opportunities for volunteers include day time positions within the radiation and chemo-therapy outpatient departments, pharmacy assistants, nutrition department aides as well as diversionary volunteers for the patients who must stay in the Center for their treatments.

Mercy Medical Center is a 285 bed comprehensive healthcare facility which serves the citizens of Baltimore and the surrounding region. Volunteers assist our staff in the following areas: 'Clinical: Patientcare floors, Emergency Room, Radiology, Physical Therapy Transportation'Clerical Support and Internships: Risk Management, Quality Assurance, Patient Relations, Business Health Services and Volunteer Department.

Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital

Mt. Washington Pediatric Health System, Inc., provides inpatient, outpatient, and home based care for children with chronic lung diseases, congenital or acquired physical disabilities, chronic medical conditions, birth defects, and chronic neurological disorders. Under the direction of the Child Life Department, volunteers assist in play areas,at the bedside, work in arts and crafts, and go on field trips.

Operation Smile

The Loyola College chapter of Operation Smile is dedicated to the same ideals as its international namesake. It is a partnership forthe children of the world, a partnership for miracles. We are the force that mobilizes teams of volunteer surgical and medical professionals to provide reconstructive surgery for children in need worldwide as well aseducational support and training for health professionals in developing countries. Sheppard And Enoch Pratt Hospital

Sheppard Pratt is a prominent psychiatric center for treatment, education and research. Volunteer assignments are available inpatient care and support areas of the Health System. Volunteers should be18 years of age and will be interviewed by the Sheppard Pratt Volunteer Office to determine the most effective placement for them.

Union Memorial Hospital

Union Hospital is a 425 bed community hospital with approximately 50 placements available for volunteers who can commit 3 to 6 hours per week for a full semester. Premed students are needed in suchareas as the emergency room and radiology. Volunteers are also needed to work in many other clinical and non-clinical settings.

University Of Maryland Medical System

The University of Maryland Medical System is a standard-setting academic medical center which serves the citizens of Maryland and the region through tertiary care, comprehensive care, education and research.Volunteers are needed to assist in three areas: clinical (e.g. patient carefloors, trauma and emergency admitting, pediatric emergency, radiology,etc.), customer service (information desk, patient representative and familyliaison, etc.) and clerical support. We interview all volunteers and supply them with a written job description.
