The Door
The Door is an inner-city ministry created to help impoverished children, youth and adults battle social problems which rob them of their God-given dignity and status. Various volunteer opportunities include:
' Assisting with the after-school program which provides children with help with homework, computers, drug prevention and recreational activities.
' Organizing dance, music, art workshops at the volunteer's convenience.
' Helping coach baseball, football, lacrosse, or tennis teams, summer camps or clinics.
'Teaching nutrition, food preparation, money management,canning and freezing classes.
Volunteers are interviewed to determine the most effective placement for them.

East Baltimore Latino Organization (EBLO)
The Eastern Baltimore Latino Organization's (EBLO) tutorial program, conducted in both English or Spanish, is designed to instill int he students a sense of pride in their Hispanic culture while enabling them to break through the language barrier which often prevents their adjustment to American culture. Good Shepherd Center
The Good Shepherd Center is a private non-profit residential and day treatment center devoted to working with young women in conflict.Volunteers are needed in a variety of short and long-term projects. Volunteers are involved in designing, planning and implementing projects based on jointly-identified interests, goals, needs, and concerns. Internships can be established. Contact person:

Natural Connections is an educational outreach program of the Irvine Natural Science Center, that trains volunteers to lead hands-on nature discovery activities for elementary school children in Baltimore City.

The Julie Community Center
We are dedicated to building community, improving the quality of life for all, but especially for those struggling against dependency,poverty, and loneliness. We do this through providing programs in the areas of advocacy, education, and organizing. Volunteer responsibilities include:' assisting with the After School program which provides help with homework and organized recreation for children grades 1-8, Mon.-Fri. 3:00-5:00pmhelping with evening sessions for youth: drug prevention/leadership workshops(seasonal) and individual tutoring, Mon.-Thurs. 5:00-7:00pm organizing dance,music, and art sessions at volunteers' convenience. Mother Seton Academy
Mother Seton Academy is an alternative Middle School for culturally diverse and economically poor boys and girls of East Baltimore.Volunteers are needed for tutoring individual 6th or 7th graders in basic math, reading, or vocabulary.
