Advocacy

Loyola College Center for Values and Service

In the upcoming year the Center for Values and Service hopes to sponsor programs for students that question their values and empower them to be responsible citizens. One project, Stand and Declare, will encourage students to take a stand on a controversial subject and declare their reasons.Students will learn facts to back up their opinions on social, political, and human rights issues. The voter registration drive will encourage students to be a part of the upcoming elections. Letter rallies will inform students on bills going through Congress and allow them to express their opinions to representatives. We also hope students will encourage members of their service community to write letters to Congress. Groups will also visit the staff members of their representatives on Capitol Hill to discuss their concerns on issues such as welfare reform, immigration, and the environment. If you have any other ideas for advocacy projects or would like to participate in the above, please contact the Center for Values and Service, Loyola College,Tel: (410) 617-2989
