Assignment 4: Web Site Re-design

Description: Create a re-design of a current web site that you feel needs improvement. You must develop and implement a plan outlining your concepts and how you proceeded to execute your ideas using the concepts and techniques learned in this class.

How To: See the Phases of Project Development

Components to Hand In:

Part One: Assessment, Analysis and Conceptual Development (Part I, II, and III of your Web site plan) are due in the beginning stages of the project.

Part Two: Redesigned Web Site, uploaded to server and linked to in your course portfolio site.

Part Three: Final revised documentation, that details changes in the project from the original plan (part one).

 

Grading Criteria:

Web site plan and concept:

How well was the project documented? Does the design and content of the site match the goals, objectives, target audience, purpose, vision, etc. of the plan? If changes were made along the way, what is the reasoning and justification behind decisions?

Design and implementation:

In terms of design aesthetics, attention to detail, navigation, spatial organization, usability and usefulness, appropriateness to target audience and purpose of site.

Content and presentation of content:

How useful, organized, and thoughtful is the content? In what ways is the content presented in order to take advantage of a non-linear, interactive, audio-visual, networked, digital environment like the Web?

Technical ability:

Does it work on both browsers, is the file structure organized, are there any unnecessary files, is each page titled, do all pages load?

Due Date of Web Site and Final Documentation: 4/29/02 (last class)

This assignment is worth 25% of your final grade.
